Introduction
President Bush has vowed a war on
"terrorist groups with global reach." You are going to
assist him in determining which groups meet this criteria and
assessing background information concerning them.
Task
Your task is to research and report on
the activities of international terrorist organizations. Mr. Reints will assign the countries/regions from which your groups can be drawn.
Each group member must concentrate, research, and report on 1
specific organization.
Format
Working in small groups, you will gather
information on the organizations from your target countries. During
each of the first 2 days of research, you are required to submit 1 web
site address relating to each of your organizations to Mr. Reints.
Do NOT duplicate those already submitted!
Submit
the information here.
After your research is complete, you
will then compile it into a PowerPoint
presentation.
Your presentation must include the
following information:
For each group individually: (graded for the individual student)
| The name and approximate membership
of the groups
| Their stated (or implied) aims -
what they hope to achieve
| Descriptions of at least 2
incidents with which they were involved.
| Responses by the US or other
international groups to their activities
| At least 1 image relating to each
group |
| | | |
For the groups as a representative sample of 'terrorism:' (graded
for the entire group)
| Similarities in methods
| Similarities in aims
| Similarities in success/failure
| Draw conclusions on the
effectiveness of terrorism as a tool to promote change |
