Revolution Portfolio

This portfolio is a creative, original response to the study of the American Revolution.  The student will complete the content to be included.  The portfolio will be graded on effort, understanding of the topics, originality, research, quality, and neatness.

 

Content:

1.  Table of Contents

2.  Write a summary of the War in one or more pages.  Answers to the following questions should be included in the summary.

    What countries fought in the war?

    Why did we fight the war?

    When did the war begin and end?

    What was the first battle?

    What was the last battle?

    Where did the surrender take place?

    What the name of the Treaty that ended the war?

    Who wrote the Declaration of Independence and why?

    List at least three important people in the war.

 

3.  Describe two interesting events or 10 or more important people from the Revolution.

4.  Write a one-page essay about a battle from the War.

5.  Draw or trace a map of the original 13 states and label each.  (Do not print one off) or draw or trace a map including major battles of the Revolution (10 at least) (do not print one off).

6.  Tell about the Declaration of Independence in one page.  Who wrote it?  Why?  What did it say?  Who was it written to and why?

7.  Write a story about the winter at Valley Forge.  Pretend you are a soldier or a nurse and describe what Valley Forge is like.

8.  Draw a picture or poster of any battle or event in the Revolution.  This must be in color.

9.  List the 10 amendments of the Bill of Rights.  In your own words, write one sentence or more describing what each means.

10.  Include your peer assessment page (I will expand more on this later) and grading sheet.
